Upper Foundation Autumn Term 2014
All About Me
This term so far we have been learning all about ourselves. We have enjoyed finding out how our bodies work and what happens to our heart during exercise. We have loved reading Funny Bones and creating our own skeleton collages. Another favourite story has been Owl Babies. Next time you're in school have a look at our lovely display on show in the corridor. It has been fun creating lots of different kinds of owls, using lots of different materials. Our science investigations have included finding out how to keep our teeth clean and about our 5 senses. We smelt some nice smells and some not so nice smells!
We have enjoyed making the most of our wonderful outdoor area. Some of the activities we have been doing include making dream catchers, playing maths games, describing Autumn collections and planting bulbs. Year 2 have also had the opportunity to take part in Forest School sessions on a Thursday afternoon. These have been great fun and some of our favourite bits have been toasting marshmallows on the fire and creating clay animals. Year 1 will also have the chance to do these activities in the next few weeks.
We celebrated Harvest by learning a poem about farmers working hard which we performed in front of the whole school during our Harvest assembly. Some Year 2 children also read out their own Harvest acrostic poems. Seeds and beans were used to create some lovely Harvest mosaic pictures.
Upper Foundation School Visit
We have organised for Year 1 and 2 to visit Father Christmas' Reindeer Lodge in Ellesmere Port on Friday 12th December. The children will have the opportunity to meet Rudolph and his friends and choose a Christmas Tree for school. More information will follow.
