Blwyddyn 4 or ‘Jars 4U’ as we have been called for the last three weeks have been hugely successful in designing, making and selling our popular jars. We sold over 100 jars resulting in a total profit of £170. We hope to buy a class iPad with this money.
We have learnt a lot so far about the Tudors. We have enjoyed learning about Tudor food. we were surprised to learn that rich people ate swans! We have use our numeracy skills and completed a Venn diagram to show the types of food that the Rich and Poor people ate.
We went to Chirk Castle on the 8th October. We had a lovely day. We went in two groups in the morning and we learnt more about food, the castle and the Myddleton family who lived there. In the afternoon we went round the castle with Mr Jones, Mrs King, Mrs Reynolds and Ffion's dad, Mr Davies. It was fun. We were lucky with the weather and it only started to rain about 2pm.
Our 'Chair homework' was wonderful. Mrs King found some lovely chairs in Erddig. We have started making our Photomontage pictures. The first group did a wonderful job. The next group will make theirs after Kingswood.
During the Autumn term we learnt about different aspects of the Hindu religion. This term we are learning about Christianity and looking at Easter.
Well what a fantastic trip we had. We arrived back at school about 3 o'clock, cold wet and tired but we had a wonderful time trying out lots of new activities. Check out our pictures!
Please learn your 6 and 7 times tables. We are having a 6 x table test on Monday 9th February and a 7 x table test when we come back on the Monday after February half term.
We have just finished reading Under the Rose by Alan Childs. This is a historical story set during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. It is a really exciting book. We made predictions at the start of the book as to what we thought would happen at the end. Some of us were right. Hannah and Crispin saved the day!!!!
Final chapters are written. Mrs. King was very pleased with them. she says we could be the next historical story authors!
We are now starting work on arguments and discussions. We are exploring different texts and then we will learn how to put our own argument and discussion together.
This Spring term we are reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. Please make sure you have read Chapter 3 by Thursday 12th February. What do you think of the Iron Man so far?
Our science topic this term is materials. We have completed a fair test 'Which material keeps the water the warmest the longest?'
We are making reusable shopping bag. We can't wait to have a go with the sewing machine!
We have finished all of our swimming lesson for this year. Well done everyone! We are now learning a sailor dance. It is looking fantastic so far. Hopefully we will be able to have some street dancing lessons after February half term. I'll keep you posted.
SUMMER TERM 2015
Welcome back to school everyone. What a busy term ahead we have of us. Here are some of the things that we are doing this term!
We are currently learning a street dance routine to be performed in the Flintshire sports festival on Thursday May 14th at Deeside Leisure Centre. Mums and Dads are welcome to come and watch us. As soon as Mrs King has the times she will let us know what time we are performing.
Design and Technology
We will be making moving minibeasts this term using pneumatics.
We will be learning about different types pf poetry e.g. Haiku, Tanka and Cinquains and writing our own. We will also look at persuasive writing and after half term we will be looking at stories that raise dilemmas.
Journeys are our focus this term. We have already looked at life as a journey.
PC Debbie Barker is coming in to our class soon. This term she will be teaching us how to be safe on the internet. we will learn a song about being SMART when we are on the internet.
Location, Location, Location
This is our topic before half term. It is a Geography topic about our local area.
This will be our topic after half term. It is a science topic where we will learn about living things and habitats.
