Welcome to the year 5/6 class page. Here you will find useful information about our year five and six class. Should you wish to discuss any aspect of your child's development, please do not hesitate to email me.

Our Curriculum

The Welsh curriculum is formed of the foundation phase, national curriculum, the literacy and numeracy framework.

There are six areas of learning: Expressive Arts, Health and Wellbeing, Humanities, Languages Literacy, Mathematics and Numeracy, Science and Technology.

At the start of each topic the children will be given the opportunity to discuss what they would like to learn and planning will include these ideas. There will also be an increased focus on outdoor learning.

Autumn Term 2025

Google classroom: any weekly updates will be uploaded to the class stream.
Topic: Our current Autumn Term topic is ‘This is Me.'
During the second half of the Autumn term our topic will be 'From page to stage' this will link to our Christmas performance.

Homework

Homework tasks are set every half term and are available on Google Classroom. Pupils should aim to submit one piece of homework per week online using Google Classrooms unless otherwise stated, for example when we set project tasks which may take longer. Online feedback will be provided and we will also use the screens in class to celebrate other pupils homework achievements and share what has been completed when we are in class.

P.E. Days

In Year 5/6 our P.E. days are usually Wednesday and Friday. Pupils can continue to come into school wearing their school PE kit on the days we have P.E. We will also be going swimming this half term and more details about this will be sent out to parents.
